Gangtokey Gondogol (Trouble in Gangtok) is a short novel by Satyajit Ray featuring the private detective Feluda, first published in 1971.

Plot summary

Feluda and Topshe visit Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Once they reach there, they find that Gangtok is not as peaceful as they had imagined. There are landslides ; a well to-do businessman , Mr. Shelvankar, is killed when his car is hit by a falling rock.

In Gangtok, they meet a wide assortment of characters: a German Photographer (Helmut Ungar), a self-proclaimed psychic (Dr. Vaidya), a Bengali businessman (Shasadhar Bose), to name a few. Mr. Shashodhar Bose turns out to be the business partner of the hapless Mr. Shelvankar. The psychic, Dr. Vaidya claims that Mr. Shelvankar was murdered by his estranged son, Virendra.

Feluda suspects foul play and starts investigating.

Among all this they meet another person named Nishikanta Sarkar who stayed in the same hotel as them. In the end Feluda discovers that the photographer is actually Shelvankar's son, Virendra, and he had actually come to save his father but Shelvankar was killed before anything could be done.During the investigation of this case Feluda got many threats and the dangerous killer attempted to murder Feluda twice. Yet,Feluda ,using his intellect and powers of deduction, concludes that Shasadhar Bose killed his business partner to capture the whole business.
